You wear period underwear just like regular underwear, but it has an absorbent area that collects menstrual flow. Our styles are made from spandex, cotton and bamboo fibre, and they are washable and reusable. You can wear period underwear on its own or as extra protection alongside another period product. There is nothing to insert and no separate pad to attach; the protection is built into the underwear itself. How long one pair stays comfortable depends on your flow and when you choose to change. After wearing it, rinse it in cold water, wash it according to the care instructions and leave it to air-dry. This makes period underwear easy to fit into your normal laundry routine.

Our period underwear can absorb up to the equivalent of five tampons. The absorbent area is also designed to handle light bladder leaks and sweat. Think of the tampon figure as a helpful comparison rather than a guaranteed wear time: tampon sizes vary and every period is different. On a heavy-flow day, the underwear will become saturated sooner than it would on a lighter day. Always check the flow rating of the style you choose and decide whether you want to wear it on its own or as backup protection. The maximum capacity does not mean you should always wait twelve hours before changing. Your flow, the fit and how active you are all affect the level of protection you experience in practice.

Yes, you can wear our period underwear on its own, without a pad or tampon. You can also use it as extra protection alongside another period product. This can be reassuring when you are trying period underwear for the first time, are not yet sure how quickly it becomes saturated for you, or simply want more security on a heavy day. You could start by wearing it at home, on a lighter day or as backup. This gives you time to get used to the material and fit without changing your entire routine straight away. If your flow is heavier, you may need to change more often or use additional protection. Once you know how long a pair works for you on different days of your period, you can decide when you feel comfortable wearing it on its own.

As a general guide, we recommend wearing one pair for around eight to twelve hours and using one or two pairs per day. This is not a fixed rule: how long period underwear stays comfortable and reliable mainly depends on your flow. On a light day, one pair may last longer than it would during the heaviest part of your period. When you first start wearing period underwear, check the absorbent area before reaching the maximum twelve hours. If it feels saturated, heavy or no longer comfortable, it is time to change. Your plans matter too. For a long working day or overnight wear, it may be more practical to put on a clean pair just before leaving or going to bed. Changing at the right time matters more than trying to reach the maximum wear time at all costs.

You can wear our regular period underwear while sleeping, working, cycling or running. For overnight use, it is best to put on a clean, dry pair just before going to bed. If your flow is heavy while you sleep or exercise, you may need to change sooner or use additional protection. For swimming, we offer separate period bikini bottoms. These styles are designed to provide leak protection both in and out of the water, and they are chlorine-resistant and quick-drying. Do not use regular period underwear as swimwear; choose a style designed specifically for swimming. Whichever style you choose, your flow, wear time and a close, comfortable fit all matter. This collection includes high-waisted and mid-rise fits, classic and lace styles, period bikini bottoms and separate styles for teenagers. Start by thinking about how you want to use the underwear and where you prefer the waistband to sit. A high-waisted style offers more coverage across the stomach, while a mid-rise style sits lower. For swimming, choose a bikini style designed specifically for use in the water. Also check the flow rating of each product, as the level of absorbency is not the same for every style. Our period underwear has an absorbent area and a built-in antibacterial treatment that helps reduce odours. This does not mean leaks or odours are impossible in every situation. A pair can become saturated, especially when your flow is heavy or you wear it for longer than is comfortable for your period. Choose a style with a suitable flow rating and make sure it fits snugly. If the absorbent area starts to feel heavy or damp, it is time to change. Proper care also makes a difference: rinse worn underwear in cold water, wash it without bleach or fabric softener, and allow it to air-dry completely. This way, you combine the protection offered by the material with sensible changing times and good everyday care.

After wearing period underwear, rinse it in cold water first. You can then wash it by hand or in the washing machine at a maximum of 60°C. Do not use bleach or fabric softener, and preferably place the underwear in a wash bag to protect the fabric during machine washing. Leave it to air-dry and do not put it in the tumble dryer, as high heat can damage the absorbent and elastic parts. A pair will often be dry and ready to wear again by the following morning. With proper care, our period underwear is designed to be reused for more than two years. Its actual lifespan will depend on how often you wear and wash it and how carefully you look after it. That depends on your flow, how often you want to do laundry, and whether you wear period underwear on its own or as extra protection. As a general guide, you may use one or two pairs per day. A simple way to work it out is to multiply the number of changes you expect each day by the number of days between washes. Ideally, add one clean spare pair as well. If you use two pairs a day and wash every other day, you will need four pairs; with one spare, that brings the total to five. If you only wear period underwear overnight or as backup, you will usually need fewer pairs. Remember to factor in drying time too. When air-dried, the underwear is often ready to wear again by the following morning.

Under our current returns policy, you can return products within 60 days of receiving your order. For hygiene reasons, period underwear must meet a few important conditions: it must be unused, undamaged, still sealed and in its original packaging. We cannot accept period underwear that has been opened or worn. Before breaking the seal, check carefully that you have received the correct style and size. Please contact our customer service team before sending anything back so we can register the return and provide the correct instructions. Return postage is your responsibility unless the product is faulty or does not match its description.
